In-Shape Health Clubs Facilities Technician I

Overview: Responsible for promptly and safely maintaining project specific tasks, not limited to; Building assets with a large emphasis on the repair and preventative maintenance of fitness equipment. Additional duties may include maintenance of electrical components, audio/visual systems, monitoring and operating pools, basic plumbing and overall general building maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a daily walk through to assess fitness equipment conditions and prioritize workload, including assigned projects; Regional Facilities Managers can help to prioritize as necessary
  • Perform corrective and routine preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment daily
  • Ensure fitness and building equipment repair SOP s are followed
  • Support all new and remodel club activities
  • Utilize Facilities Standards Reference Guide to ensure all assets and conditions meet standards
  • Use all resources available, internal and external to proactively identify, follow up, escalate and resolve maintenance and repair opportunities
  • Follow Facilities Management SOP s for materials and tool purchasing
  • Retain accurate records of all maintenance activities
  • Assure that all company rules and processes for time recording and overtime are followed
  • Respond to emergency events and support disaster recovery, when needed
  • Be financially disciplined
  • Keep a safe, clean and organized work space

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of experience in mechanical and building maintenance or education in electrical, mechanical, carpentry, HVAC, or plumbing. Position includes but not limited to performing maintenance or repairs in the following areas: Electrical maintenance, plumbing, building interior and exterior, steam generators, cosmetic carpentry, pool maintenance and pool chemistry balancing
  • Specialty experience in any of the following areas is a plus: Power equipment/mechanical repair and basic equipment trouble-shooting, plumbing, HVAC filter changing, carpentry or fitness equipment
  • Ability to stand or kneel for extended periods of time, climb and descend safely from ladders, operate power equipment safely, and ability to lift equipment or items weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to take detailed measurements; mounting all fixtures and completing all tasks with systematic care
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet facility/project needs
  • Ability to manage work load and prioritize tasks independently through time management skills
  • Effective written and verbal commutation skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations
  • Basic computer proficiency with MS Office and Internet knowledge
  • Effectively evaluates problems quickly determining the most efficient way to solve it
  • Ability to interact with club members and staff in a friendly and professional manner as a team player
  • Ability to travel to clubs to complete assignments or provide coverage to clubs; including occasional overnight travel (if needed)
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Current CPR certification or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date
  • Must have a valid DL
  • Work in inclement weather hot/ cold, etc.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, changes in temperature/humidity; moving mechanical parts and vibration and exercise equipment; frequently required to stand, walk 8-hours/8 hour day; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; and frequently use both feet and move them forward/backward and side to side; seldom required to sit; frequently to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and continuously reach and twist, including side-to-side movements; must continuously lift/move/carry 25 pounds; frequently lift/move/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move/carry 51 or more pounds

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
